For hospitalized patients, even our long-time patients:
If you are hospitalized and want Dr. Penn to be your ID Specialist, tell your hospital physician and nurse. Otherwise the hospital may assign you another.
If you need help facilitating this, or if you are assigned another despite your request, call us at 402.934.6504. If you know you will be hospitalized, let us know, too. Know you have the right to choose your physicians, including your ID Specialist. You have a choice. Make it known.
For potential new office clinic patients -- to request an appointment:
Patients are seen in our office clinic by referral from other healthcare providers. If you believe you need an ID Specialist, ask your primary care provider, or other involved physician, if they think this is appropriate for your condition. If so, it is best if their office sends a referral request, by fax, to our office. Requests should include recent clinical notes and labs, as well as patient demographics, including insurance. We will respond to the referring provider about such a request within three business days.
Insurance participation:
We participate in all health insurance plans that Methodist Hospital participates in, as well as many other Nebraska and Iowa insurance plans.
